MAIN GOLFING EVENTS FOR 2011 SEASON IN FLORIDA BY BLADE RUNNER GOLF, INC.

Can you believe summer is over and the golf season will be slowing down and even stopping in some parts of the country soon?  But here in Florida our season is just starting up.  The snowbirds will be heading down soon to spend the winter and they should find our courses are in great shape.

Not only does Florida have great golfing in the winter months, but we also have some of the best Golf Shows and biggest demo days in the country during this time.

Here is a list of some of the major events on the West Coast of Florida that you won’t want to miss.

Starting off the year in November there are two big demo days going on the same day, November 6th.

Sally Collins, head professional the Candler Hill Golf Club in Ocala, Florida puts on a demo day second to none.  It will take two driving ranges and a huge short game area to house all the venders.  A long ball champion was on hand last year putting on a crowd pleasing show with his 400 yard drives and trick shots and I am sure Sally will have a crowd pleaser this year.  There are door prizes given away every hour that are worth hundreds of dollars each with plenty of food from the outdoor grills and warm sunshine will make this a great way to start off the season.  This event starts at 10:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M.  (Phone number 352-854-2765)

On the same day in Homosassa Springs, Florida, World Wood home of the Black Diamond Golf Course which is rated one of the best in the country will have a demo day from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.   For more information call 352-796-5500.

Golf Week Magazine will be putting on 3 big golf fest demo days though out the winter months.  First is the Champions Gate in Orlando, Florida January 22nd and 23rd.

At Golfest you can try and buy the latest golf equipment all in one place over two days.  Golf lifestyle exhibits appeal to both golfers and non-golfers. There will be Activities, prizes and fun for the whole family.  Try and buy the major golf equipment brands on-site, retail assistance and merchandise tent,  Wellness and lifestyle exhibits,  Instructional aides, outdoor demos of the latest product.  For more information on these events call Cherry Masih 407-563-7024.

The next golf fest will be at The Downs Practice Ranges in Tampa, Florida.  The Downs is one of the best practice areas in Florida.  This 2 day event is February 19th and 20th starting at 9:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Saturday and on Sunday 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M.  Annika Sorenson will be here on Sunday and many PGA Professionals will be here Saturday and Sunday.  There will a long ball champion and trick shot artist showing off their skills.  There will be free golf lessons.  You can expect all the major venders with all the latest equipment for you to try out on golf course like conditions with plenty of food from the outdoor grills and warm sunshine will make this a 2 day event you don’t want to miss. Golf Fest 3 will be at the Polo Grounds in The Villages, Ocala, Florida, March 4th and 5th.  This is probably the biggest of the three because The Villages is one of the largest retirement communities in the country.  For more information on this event call Cherry Masih  407-563-7024.

January 27th, 28th, 29th the PGA Show in Orland, Florida at the convention center.  This show is not open to the general public.  Manufactures set up and show all the new equipment coming and sell to retailers.  You need to be a PGA golf person or tied in with a golf company to attend this show.

March 11th, 12th and 13thth is Florida largest golf show for the general public.  This is a 3 day event in doors at the Fairgrounds, Tampa, Florida.  From the minute you walk into this show you will think you are in Vegas with all the lights and glitter.  Anything and everything in the golf world can be found at this show with sales going on all weekend.  All the big venders will be there with a large indoor driving range for you to try out all the latest equipment.  Last year John Daly was on hand to sign autographs and I am sure there will be a big name this year also.  You will be able to have your swing analyzed by the latest equipment that can tell you what clubs and shafts will work best for you.  All types of putters and putting contests to try your luck along with great prizes to win. Last, but not least is one of our favorite, Mangrove Bay Golf Course.  The date has not been set for sure but either the second or third Saturday in March.  This will be at Mangrove Bay Golf Course in St. Petersburg, Florida 727-893-7800.  This is an outdoor event that has a great short game area and driving range second to none.  Most of the big name venders will be set up at the range giving those snowbirds a last chance to try out the latest equipment and pick up some great deals before heading north for the summer.  You can expect plenty of sunshine and great food from the big grills which will make this demo day a great way to end the season.
